PicoSure®: The Best Way to Say Goodbye to Unwanted Tattoos

Breaking up is hard to do, especially when it’s with a tattoo. Like a romantic relationship, tattoos are etched deeply (but in your skin, not your soul). You need help breaking up old ink, layer by layer. PicoSure® does it effectively and safely.

Tattoos seem to be ubiquitous; about 45 million women and men in the United States have at least one. In a 2021 study, though, about 12% of them reported that they regretted one or more of their tattoos.

If you have an unwanted tattoo, you may be scouring the internet looking for the perfect way to “scour” it away. But DIY tattoo removal will leave you with an even bigger regret: permanently damaged skin.

Removing tattoos — layer by layer — is a job that demands skill, precision, and the right technology. That’s why Joon Lee, MD, and our team of medical and aesthetics specialists at SeeBeyond Beauty in Scarsdale, New York, use PicoSure® by Cynosure® for tattoo removal.

The first and the finest

PicoSure was the world’s first and is still the only aesthetic picosecond laser that the FDA cleared to resolve a number of aesthetic and pigmentary issues. PicoSure uses mechanical energy, not heat, to break up your tattoo ink, layer by layer, so your surrounding un-inked skin stays safe.

PicoSure features varied wavelengths to handle all colors of the rainbow. We choose the 755 nm wavelength to target black, blue, and green tattoo inks. For the hard-to-erase “sunset colors” (reds, yellows, and oranges), we opt for the 532nm wavelength. We can even remove dark colors from highly pigmented skin with the 1064 nm wavelength.

We also remove challenging whites and pale colors. The first pass of PicoSure generally darkens these shades, as they oxidize when exposed to the laser. After they’ve darkened, they’re easier to remove.

Take off as much — or as little — as you wish

We can adjust the treatment area that PicoSure targets to be as small or as large as you wish. So, if you love most of your tattoo but want to adjust it by erasing just one small area, we can do it.

Small tattoos, or smaller areas in a large tattoo you want to preserve, only take about 10 minutes to treat per session. Larger areas take longer, and our team can give you an idea of what to expect during your consultation.

Get ready for fewer treatments

Tattoo removal is a much lengthier process than getting a tattoo, even elaborate ones. Removing a tattoo must be done skin layer by skin layer. In your first session, we break up the ink that’s on the surface of your skin. Your body systems then process and eliminate the ink fragments.

Once your skin has healed and that layer of ink is gone, you’re ready for your next treatment. While most lasers take up to 10 sessions to completely fade or remove a tattoo, with PicoSure, you may have clear skin in just 3-6 sessions. That means you’re happier with your skin months sooner than you would be with another removal method.

You don’t have to be among the millions of people with tattoos they regret. Clear your skin and your mind with PicSure treatments by contacting our aesthetics team to start tattoo removal today. Phone our helpful staff or choose your own appointment online.
